Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour (if using self rising ,omit baking powder and soda)
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Mix together well: Flour baking powder,salt, and soda.
  3. Add shortening with fork, pastry cutter or fingers.
  4. Add milk and blend till velvety smooth.
  5. Roll out on lightly floured board and cut 1/4 (or shape a nice little biscuit with your hands).
  6. Brush tops with milk (optional).
  7. Bake about 10 minutes, till golden brown.
