  1. Peel paper off onion and slice in 1/2 thick slices. When separating into rings, leave two rings for each piece. In a bowl, combine egg and oil, beating well. On a large place, spread bread crumbs (crush more if needed), paprika, and garlic powder, stirring well. Then dip each 2-ring piece first into the egg then both sides on the bread crumbs to coat. Place onion rings on a plate, cover with a piece of paper towel large enough to cover all pieces, and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Check and cook in additional 30 second increments until onion is slightly cooked. Salt to taste, and serve
