Low-Cost Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Combine and whisk sugar, oil, vanilla, and egg. (Try adding some lemon or orange zest, if desired).
  3. Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda.
  4. Add dry ingredients and milk to the wet ingredients; stir to combine thoroughly.
  5. Chill 1 hour or more.
  6. Roll to 1/8-inch thick, cut with cookie cutters, and place on greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake 10-12 minutes.
  8. Decorate if desired.
