Directions:

  1. Place all the ingredients (except the sultanas, marg 1 oz flour 1/2 oz marg and water) into your bread machine and set on the dough cycle add the fruit when the machine signals, once dough has formed place dough on a floured work surface and knead into a ball, tear off 8 even pieces and roll into a ball and place on a non stick baking tray, place a clean towel over them and allow to rise, whist the buns are proving, place the marg and 1 oz flour into a bowl, using finger tips, work the mixture so it resembles breadcrumbs, now add the water and use a knife to pull dough together, once well mixed with cold hands form into a ball, place in cling film and place in fridge to cool.
  2. While thats cooling add to a cup 1 tablespoon of water to 1 tablespoon sugar mix well this is your glaze.
  3. With your cooled pastry break off pieces and roll out strips and with these strips you can have fun designing a symbol of your choice on your buns,ie a cross, pentagram, spiral, use your glaze to coat the bun make your pantern out of the pastry lay it on and then glase over your symbol.
  4. Once all buns have been decorated place on the middle shelf of a pre heated oven gas mark 7 for 12 minutes.
