  1. Layer your beans in jar.
  2. In a small plastic bag, mix bouillon granules, minced onion, basil leaves, pepper, cumin, garlic powder, ginger and bay leaf.
  3. In another small plastic bag, place rice.
  4. Attach these hearty soup recipe instructions to the jar:.

  6. To prepare, wash beans and place in a 3-quart saucepan with 6 cups water.
  7. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat.
  9. Let stand 30 minutes.
  10. Drain beans and return to pan.
  11. Add package of seasonings with 8 cups water.
  12. Bring to a boil.
  13. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 45 minutes.
  14. Add rice and continue simmering until beans and rice are tender 45 minutes.
  15. Serves 6.
