Ingredients:

  • 2 cup. lukewarm milk
  • 1 1/4- oz package active dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 cup. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Directions:

  1. Put milk in a large mixing bowl, sprinkle yeast over the top.
  2. Stir well to dissolve so no lumps remain.
  3. Beat egg yolks and add to cooled yeast mixture.
  4. Stir in vanilla & melted butter.
  5. Beat the egg whites until stiff; fold into batter.
  6. Let stand in a warm place for an hour, or until doubled in size.
  7. Use a Belgian waffle iron, fill with about 1 1/2 cups of mixture; cook until golden brown.
  8. Serve with syrup or cream and fresh fruit.
