Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Fry bacon until almost crisp.
  2. Add onion and cook until limp.
  3. Add rinsed sauerkraut.
  4. Add water to cover.
  5. Put caraway and juniper in a tea ball or wrap in cheesecloth so it can be removed later.
  6. Add bay leaf.
  7. Cover and let simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  8. Add more water if necessary.
  9. Should be juicy but not soupy.
  10. Remove spices.
  11. Stir in shredded potato.
  12. The potato will melt and turn saucy.
  13. Stir in wine.
