In a small container or bowl, mix together all ingredients except for hot dos, potatoes and onion. Set aside.
In a large pot or dutch oven, brown the hot dogs for 1-2 minutes, then add the sliced onions. When onions are translucent and limp, add potatoes and stir until combined.
Pour the vinegar mixture over the potatoes, cover and cook for 1/2 hour on a medium flame, stirring every 10 minutes or so depending on how heavy your pot is (some pots burn on the bottom quicker than others).
Potatoes are done when they can be easily pierced with a fork.
