Eggless, Easy and Tasty Gingerbread Made WITHOUT Molasses!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup golden syrup
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions:

  1. Put the sugar into a half-pint measuring cup.
  2. Fill the cup with the golden syrup.
  3. Pour the mixture into a bowl.
  4. Then, put butter into the half-pint measuring cup and fill with boiling water.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Add baking soda.
  7. Now, sift together the remaining dry ingredients.
  8. Mix well until you have a soft, smooth consistency.
  9. Pour into a square or oblong baking pan lined with greaseproof paper.
  10. Bake at 350F for 40 minutes.
  11. Baking tip: All gingerbreads collapse if disturbed too soon while baking.
  12. Variation: As a variation, add 1 cup mixed fruits or fruits and nuts (chopped), if desired.
