Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 12/- cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2- tsp baking powder
  • 1/2- tsp salt
  • 1/4- tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2- cup milk
  • topping
  • 1/2- cup sugar
  • 1 1/2- tsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, cram shortening and sugar.
  2. Add egg; beat well.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and mix well.
  4. Fill greased muffin cups half full.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes .
  6. (Toothpick test them for doneness.)
  7. In a shallow bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon,.
  8. Dip muffin tops in butter, then in cinnamon-sugar.
  9. Serve warm.
