Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups cake flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 tbsp cocoa
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Mix dry ingredients.
  2. Add softened butter and butter-milk; beat for one minute.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla.
  4. Stir soda and cocoa into boiling water, mix, and then beat into cake mixture.
  5. Bake in greased and floured layer pan or 9x13 inch cake pan at 350°F for 30-35 minutes or until done.
