  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar in a bowl with an electric mixer until fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add vanilla, baking soda and salt, then mix at low speed until well blended. Add flour and mix until just incorporated. Stir in chocolate, dried cherries and walnuts.
  3. Spoon dough into a mound onto parchment paper and then spread evenly into a 7-inch-diameter circle. Bake for about 30 minutes, until top is golden brown and slightly soft. Let cool, about 10 minutes, then cut into wedges.
