Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cherries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Put cherries in buttered 8x8x2 pan. sprinkle with sugar & tapioca.
  2. Put in oven till ready.
  3. Stir together: 1 1/2 cups flour, 3 tbsp baking powder, 1tbs sugar, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/3 cup shortening.
  4. Add 1/2 cup milk & 1 beaten egg. Stir till flour is moistened.
  5. Spread over hot cherries.
  6. Bake 35 minutes 400 degrees F.
