Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Have apples at room temperature.
  2. Wash and dry apples and stick wooden skewers into the stem end of apples.
  3. Butter a large cookie sheet.
  4. Combine sugar, corn syrup, cream, and butter in a large sauce pan.
  5. Stir to mix.
  6. Cook over low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  7. Do not stir after syrup starts to boil.
  8. Cook to very hard ball stage, without stirring.
  9. Add vanilla.
  10. Dip apples into syrup.
  11. Then hold upright and turn so syrup covers the apples all over.
  12. Work very fast.
  13. Set the apple on a greased cookie sheet to cool.
  14. Roll the lower half of each apple in coarsely chopped nuts, if desired.
