Ingredients:
6 medium red apples
wooden skewer
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup dark corn syrup
1 cup light cream
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
chopped nuts, if desired
Directions:
1. Have apples at room temperature.

3. Butter a large cookie sheet.
4. Combine sugar, corn syrup, cream, and butter in a large sauce pan.
5. Stir to mix.
6. Cook over low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
7. Do not stir after syrup starts to boil.
8. Cook to very hard ball stage, without stirring.
9. Add vanilla.
10. Dip apples into syrup.
11. Then hold upright and turn so syrup covers the apples all over.
12. Work very fast.
13. Set the apple on a greased cookie sheet to cool.
14. Roll the lower half of each apple in coarsely chopped nuts, if desired.
