Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Combine first 5 ingredients
  2. Mix in crystallized ginger.
  3. In another bowl mix brown sugar, shortening, and butter with electric mixer until fluffy.
  4. Add egg and molasses and beat until blended.
  5. Combine flour mixture and mix until just blended.
  6. Cover and refridgerate at least 1 hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  8. Form dough into balls and dip in raw sugar.
  9. Place on cookie sheets with room to spread.
  10. Bake 10-12 minutes, until cracked on top but still soft.
