Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 with rack in the middle.Butter a 9 round cake pan,then line bottom with a round of parchment paper buttered and dusted with flour.
  2. Whisk together flour(13/4c),baking powder,and salt. Beat together butter and sugar with electric mixer until pale and fluffy,about 5 mins. Add whole egg,yolk,zest and vanilla and beat 1 min. At low speed.mix in flour mixture and milk alternately in batches. Spread batter in cake pan.
  3. Bake until golden brown and a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean,35-40 mins. Cool cake in pan 10 mins.then turn onto a rack.
  4. Dust with confectioners sugar.
