Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup fresh basil sprig, packed

Directions:

  1. Bring sugar and water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Boil, stirring often, about 1 minute or until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Remove from heat and add basil. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  3. Pour into a glass jar, cover and refrigerate at least 24 hours.
  4. Remove basil and discard. Enjoy!
  5. Note: To make mint syrup, use mint in place of basil.
