Barbecue Sauce with Mustard

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp thyme, ground
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp oil

Directions:

  1. Combine sugar, oregano.
  2. Thyme, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and cornstarch in a small saucepan.
  3. Stir in enough vinegar to make a paste. Combine molasses, ketchup, mustard, oil and remaining vinegar; add to herb paste. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat; cool completely.
  6. Pour into a glass jar; cover tightly.
  7. Store in refrigerator up to 3 months.
  8. Best used for chicken, turkey, ham or hot dogs.
