Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups applesauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar till light, beat in egg.
  2. Stir in flour, soda, spices, and salt.
  3. Beat in applesauce, then raisins and nuts.
  4. Pour into greased 9 by 5 inch loaf pan.
  5. Bake 350° for 1 hour.
  6. Cool in pan 10 minutes, remove from pan, may sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  7. Makes one loaf.
