Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp clove
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 (3 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Mix the sugar, shortening, eggs, & applesauce well. Stir the dry ingredients together. After mixing all the ingredients together stir in raisins.
  2. Pour into a greased and floured 12” x 15” cookie sheet.
  3. Bake at 350° about 20 minutes.
  4. Frosting.
  5. Beat the cream cheese and butter together until fluffy. Slowly beat in powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in vanilla. Spread on cooled bars.
