Annie's Oatmeal Cake (Vintage Recipe - AMB)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 lb dates
  • 1 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 tsp soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter

Directions:

  1. Cover the dates with the water (and 1/2 c sugar), boil until soft.
  2. Mix the remaining ingredients like pie crust.
  3. Put half in tin (baking pan) in a sheet, then dates, then remaining half on top. Cook til brown.
  4. Cut while hot (written twice so they must get hard to cut!).
