Alta's Famous Peanut Brittle

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tsp butter
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3 cups raw peanuts
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Grease large cookie sheets with raised edges.
  2. Boil sugar, syrup, & water until it spins long brittle threads.
  3. Add peanuts & boil 7 minutes. Remove from heat.
  4. Add butter & vanilla, stirring only until butter melts.
  5. Add soda, stir quickly and pour onto cookie sheets as quickly as possible.
  6. Allow to cool completely, then break into individual pieces.
