100% Whole Wheat Bread

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water (120f)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Directions:

  1. To soften yeast, combine it with water in a 2 cup measuring cup/bowl.
  2. In a large bowl, mix salt, sugar, and 1 cup whole wheat flour.
  3. Stir the yeast mixture to the flour mixture, adding the remaining whole wheat flour and olive oil to make a soft dough.
  4. Knead for 4-5 minutes. Cover and let rise until doubled.
  5. Punch the dough down, shape it and let it rise for the 2nd time in baking pan for another hour.
  6. Bake at 375F for 35 to 45 minutes.
