Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp yeast
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 18 -21 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered milk
  • 3 tbsp salt
  • 7 1/2 cups water
  • 24 tbsp butter , cut into pieces (3 sticks)

Directions:

  1. If you have a bread bucket:.
  2. Just put in the water, add the remaining ingredients, and crank for 5 minutes to knead. Let rise till double; crank a couple of times to punch down, then cut into 6 pieces. Shape each piece into a loaf or put into loaf pan. Let rise again until almost doubled. Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes or till done.
  3. If you don't have a bread bucket (and I never make it like this, so if you are an experienced baker, feel free to do this by your own method):.
  4. Mix the sugar, yeast, powdered milk and warm water. Let it stand a few minutes, or till it gets bubbly.
  5. Add flour, salt, and butter and mix well. Let it rise for 30-60 minutes or so. Punch down and knead till smooth.
  6. Shape dough in to loaves and let rise again until almost doubled.
  7. Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes or till done.
