Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 -inch baking pan or two 8 or 9-in round baking pans.
  3. Combine sugar, flour, shortening, eggs, club soda, vanilla and baking powder.
  4. Beat with mixer on med speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Pour into prepared pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes (for a 13 x 9-inch).
  7. Frost with desired frosting.
