Vera's Honey Applesauce Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups flour , sifted
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup applesauce
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 2 cups wheat flakes

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and sugar together.
  3. Combine egg, milk, shortening and honey.
  4. Add egg mixture to the flour mixture.
  5. Mix until the flower is dampened.
  6. Stir in applesauce and raisins.
  7. Fold in wheat flakes.
  8. Turn into greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
  9. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour and 10 minutes or until done.
  10. Cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing.
  11. Wrap in foil and store overnight for easiest slicing.
