Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Cream butter, shortening and sugars.
  2. Add eggs; beat well.
  3. Add flour, sifted with cream of tartar and soda.
  4. Add vanilla.
  5. Roll in small balls; place on greased cookie sheet.
  6. Flatten with bottom of drinking glass dipped in sugar.
  7. Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes.
  8. Remove cookies from pan when they come out of the oven or they may stick.
