Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Directions:

  1. Cream shortening, sugar, butter, and eggs in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Combine flour, tartar, soda, and salt in separate bowl and mix thoroughly.
  3. Slowly combine the two bowls, mixing the wet and dry ingredients.
  4. When completely mixed, roll the dough into 1 balls. Combine the additional cinnamon and sugar in small bowl. Roll the balls in the cinnamon and sugar mixture until covered.
  5. Place cookies on a greased cookie sheet and slightly flatten (optional).
  6. Bake at 400° F for 8-10 minutes. Let cool before removing from pan
