  1. In a pot, melt the butter in the water over a medium heat.
  2. Once it reaches a low boil, stir in the oats, salt, cinnamon, and chopped pieces of dried apple. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 30 - 35 minutes, keeping an eye on the water level. (NOTE: Depending on just how dried-out your apple pieces are, they may absorb and reduce the overall amount of liquid in the pot. If, at the twenty-minute mark, it looks like you may run out of water, add a little bit more and increase the heat.).
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the brown sugar.
  4. Serve hot.
