Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2-1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 small tomato diced
  • 1 small carrot diced
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1/4 cup celery diced
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 lb ground beef chili grind

Directions:

  1. Melt butter in 3 quart saucepan over low heat then stir in flour.
  2. Cook over low heat stirring constantly until mixture is smooth then remove from heat.
  3. Stir in broth then heat to boiling stirring constantly.
  4. Boil and stir 1 minute then stir in tomato, carrot, onion, celery, browning sauce and pepper.
  5. Heat to boiling then reduce heat to low.
  6. Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
  7. While vegetables are simmering cook beef in skillet over medium heat 7 minutes then drain.
  8. Stir vegetables and beef into soup then heat to boiling and reduce heat to low.
  9. Cover and simmer 20 minutes.
