Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup corn oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp clove
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup hot water , use only as much as needed

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375-degrees F.
  2. Spray a 10 x 15-inch cookie sheet with sides or a jelly roll pan with non-stick cooking spray (Pam) or grease pan.
  3. Combine first 9 ingredients (flour- cloves) in large bowl and stir to combine.
  4. Stir in nuts (if using) and raisins.
  5. Spoon batter into prepared pan, spreading evenly with a knife or spatula.
  6. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Cool bars in pan on rack for 10 minutes while preparing icing.
  8. To prepare icing: blend powdered sugar with water in a small bowl until smooth.
  9. When bars cooled for ten minutes or so, spread icing over bars.
  10. Let bars finish cooling before cutting.
