Spaghetti Sauce (Homemade)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef or 1 lb ground pork or 1 lb sausage
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 (14 oz) cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp basil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions:

  1. Brown meat, drain and reserve 2 Tbs of fat.
  2. Saute onions in olive oil if using lean meat or use reserved fat.
  3. Dissolve cornstarch with tomatoes. (Can blend at this point for desired texture).
  4. Add meat and remaining ingredients and simmer about an hour. (Can be done on low in a crock pot for longer).
