Ingredients:

  • 1 package yeast
  • 1 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 4 cup flour
  • 1 egg

Directions:

  1. Measure warm water into large mixing bowl.
  2. Sprinkle yeast and stir until it looks soft.
  3. Add salt, sugar, and flour.
  4. Mix and knead dough for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Take small balls of dough to roll, and twist into pretzels, letters, numerals, snakes and things.
  6. Grease cookie sheets lightly.
  7. Lay twisted pretzels on greased cookie sheets.
  8. Brush pretzels with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  9. (optional: cinnamon/sugar, garlic, Parmesan cheese, etc.)
  10. Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
