  1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES F.
  2. IN A LARGE MIXING BOWL, CREAM THE BUTTER AND SUGAR TOGETHER WITH AN ELECTRIC MIXER, THEN ADD THE EGGS AND BEAT TILL WELL BLENDED.
  3. IN ANOTHER BOWL, COMBINE THE FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, AND SALT AND STIR.
  4. ADD THE FLOUR MIXTURE ALTERNATELY WITH THE MILK TO THE CREAMED MIXTURE AND MIX TILL WELL BLENDED.
  5. STIR IN THE LEMON ZEST.
  6. SCRAPE THE BATTER INTO A 9X5X3 INCH LOAF PAN AND BAKE TILL A STRAW INSERTED INTO THE CENTER COMES OUT CLEAN ABOUT 50 MINUTES.
  7. TRANSFER THE BREAD TO A RACK AND LET COOL COMPLETELY BEFORE SLICING.
  8. IN A BOWL , COMBINE THE POWDERED SUGAR, LEMON JUICE, AND VANILLA, STIR TILL SMOOTH, AND POUR THE GLAZE OVER THE CAKE........
