Sherried Broccoli with Almonds

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tsp dry sherry
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds

Directions:

  1. Cut broccoli into spears, removing tough lower stalks.
  2. Wash well.
  3. Cook in microwave until barely tender (2-3 minutes).
  4. Place in baking dish.
  5. Dissolve bullion in the 3/4 cup hot water.
  6. Stir in half and half and set aside.
  7. Melt butter in saucepan and blend in flour.
  8. Stir until smooth.
  9. Cook and stir 1 min.
  10. Gradually stir in bullion mxiture.
  11. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick and bubbly.
  12. Stir in lemon juice, sherry and pepper.
  13. Pour over broccoli.
  14. Sprinkle with cheese and almonds.
  15. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
