Sausage and Sauerkraut

Ingredients:

  • 3 strips bacon, cut into small pieces
  • 1 1/2 tbsp flour
  • 2 (1 1/2 lb) cans sauerkraut
  • 3 lbs polish sausage, cut in 1 1/2 inch pieces
  • 2 small apples, cubed
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp caraway seeds (optional)

Directions:

  1. Fry bacon until crisp; drain.
  2. Blend flour into bacon drippings.
  3. Stir in sauerkraut.
  4. Put sauerkraut mixture and bacon in slow electric cooker.
  5. Add all other ingredients; stir together thoroughly.
  6. Cover and cook on low 7 to 9 hours (or on high 3 to 4 hours).
