Ingredients:

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 3/4 cup raisins

Directions:

  1. Cream sugar and shortening till fluffy.
  2. Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  3. Stir in pumpkin and milk.
  4. Stir together flour, baking powder, ginger, soda, spices and 1/2 teaspoon salt;
  5. Add to pumpkin mixture.
  6. Beat 1 minute with electric or rotary beater.
  7. Stir in raisins.
  8. Turn into a well-greased 3 pound shortening can.
  9. Place can in crockery cooker.
  10. Cover; cook on high-heat setting for 3 1/2 hours.
  11. Remove can from cooker; cool 10 minutes in can.
  12. Cool thoroughly
