President Roosevelt's Birthday Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp vinegar

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and dust an 8 x 8 cakepan with cocoa.
  3. Cream butter and add sugar a little at a time.
  4. Cream well; add eggs.
  5. Sift flour, salt, soda and cocoa together 3 times.
  6. Add coffee to batter alternatively with flour mixture.
  7. Then add vinegar and vanilla.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees about 30 to 40 minutes.
