  1. In a stand up mixer, beat together butter and sugar.
  2. Add in eggs and vanilla and mix until well mixed.
  3. In a bowl sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Carefully mix the dry ingredients into the wet.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and toffee pieces.
  6. Place the dough in a bowl, cover, and chill in the freezer for about 20 minutes or in the refrigerator for an hour.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  8. Drop 1 rounded tablespoon of cookie dough for each cookie on a cookie sheet. Leave about 2 inches between each cookie.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
  10. Immediately after the cookies come out of the oven, sprinkle them with a .
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
