Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp clove
  • 3/4 cup oatmeal
  • 1/4 lb butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk

Directions:

  1. Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.
  2. Blend in the oatmeal.
  3. Place the syrup,butter and sugar in a saucepan.
  4. Heat until just blended.
  5. Stir into the dry mixture.
  6. Beat the egg with the milk.
  7. Add to the mixture.
  8. Pour into a lightly greased cake pan.
  9. Bake at 275 for 1 1/4 hour (or until firm in the middle).
  10. Cool before serving.
