Outstanding Buttery Homemade Yeast Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 2 packages active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 3/4 cup sprite
  • 1/2 cup cubed butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 5 3/4-6 1/2 cups flour

Directions:

  1. Dissolve yeast in milk.
  2. Heat Sprite and butter together, then add eggs, sugar, salt, 2 cups of flour and yeast mixture.
  3. Beat until smooth.
  4. Stir in enough remaining flour to form smooth dough.
  5. Turn out onto floured board and knead until elastic.
  6. Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
  7. Cover and let rise for one hour.
  8. Punch dough down and divide into 4 portions.
  9. Divide these into nine pieces each.
  10. Shape each into a ball and place on greased baking sheets and let rise for 45 minutes.
  11. Bake at 350° for 18 to 20 minutes.
