Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 orange ( squeeze juice , remove pulp)
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp butter

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar
  2. Add eggs 1 at a time
  3. Sift flour and salt together
  4. Add baking soda to buttermilk
  5. Add to creamed mixture alternately with flour and nuts, raisins, orange peeling which has bene put through food chopper
  6. Bake in 8-inch layer pans greased and floured in 350 degree oven, 25 to 30 minutes
  7. For Icing
  8. Cream butter
  9. Add small amount sugar
  10. Add orange and lemon juices alternately with sugar until icing is well blended.
  11. Let cake cool and apply icing.
