Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 11/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp pure orange extract
  • 1 tbsp grated zest of an orange (do not include the white part of the orange peel)
  • 11/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tbsp grated zest of an orange (do not include the white part of the orange peel)

Directions:

  1. For the blondies, cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Add eggs and mix well.
  3. Add flour, salt, extract, and orange zest, and mix well.
  4. Pour into greased 9x13 pan.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven; wait 5 minutes, then pierce top of bars several times with the tines of a fork.
  7. Pour glaze over warm blondies, allowing it to soak into the pierced top.
  8. Cool completely and cut into small squares.
  9. To make glaze, combine all ingredients in a bowl, stirring together until smooth. Glaze should be runny enough that you can drizzle it over the bars - it is not meant to be as thick as a traditional frosting.
