Old Fashioned Raisin Bars

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup salad oil or 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp clove

Directions:

  1. Combine raisins and water in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in salad oil, cool to lukewarm. Stir in sugar and egg. Sift together dry ingredients; beat into raisin mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350* for 20 minutes or until done. When cooled cut into bars. Dust with powdered sugar.
