Oatmeal Wheat Bread

Ingredients:

  • 3 packages of dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp of salt
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of rolled oats
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups of white all purpose flour

Directions:

  1. Combine whole wheat flour, potato granules, yeast and salt in a big bowl.
  2. Heat milk, honey and butter until lukewarm.
  3. Add to the above mix.
  4. Beat with electric mixer about 3 minutes.
  5. Add oats, mix.
  6. Add enough white flour to make stiff dough.
  7. Knead on floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 7-10 minutes.
  8. Place in a greased bowl, turning to grease all surfaces.
  9. Cover with a damp clean dish towel and let rise to double.
  10. Punch down and divide and put in greased loaf pans.
  11. Let rise.
  12. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes to start, then at 350 degrees for 30 minutes more.
