Mom's Fried Walnuts

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups walnut halves
  • 2 quarts water

Directions:

  1. Preheat oil in a stock pot to 350 degrees (medium high heat).
  2. In a large stock pot boil water. Add Walnut halves and boil for 1 minute. Drain walnuts in a colander and rinse with very hot water.
  3. In a large bowl, gently stir walnuts with sugar until sugar dissolves. Let stand for 5 minutes if necessary.
  4. Fry walnuts in hot oil until golden brown (about 5 minutes). Drain walnuts and sprinkle slightly with salt.
