Ingredients:

  • 2 cup cake flour , sifted
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp red pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 lb medium sharp cheese, grated
  • 1/4 lb butter or margarine
  • option - same number of pecan halves as dates in the box.

Directions:

  1. Pre heat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Sift cake flour, red pepper, salt and sugar together.
  3. Cream grated cheese and butter or margarine together.
  4. Add flour mixture and mix until dough doesn't stick to bowl.
  5. Pinch off pieces about the size of a nickel and pat flat.
  6. If you use the pecan halves put a pecan half in each date.
  7. Cover date with the flattened dough.
  8. Bake on a cookie sheet until light brown, don't over cook.
  9. Cool then roll in powdered sugar.
