Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 tbsp milk

Directions:

  1. Cream shortening; add eggs and sugar.
  2. Alternate adding bananas and milk (reserve 1/2 cup bananas).
  3. Add flour and dry ingredients.
  4. Add vanilla.
  5. Bake in greased cake pans at 250° for 1 hour 20 minutes.
  6. Spread reserved bananas between layers.
  7. Frost with any cream cheese frosting when cool.
