Ingredients:

  • 1 cup bacon fat
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 5 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Cream together bacon fat and sugar.
  2. Add hot water, molasses, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.
  3. Stir flour in 1 cup at a time until all is thoroughly blended.
  4. Chill dough at least 1 hour.
  5. Flour rolling surface.
  6. Roll chilled dough to 1/2 thick.
  7. Cut with large round cookie cutter or juice glass.
  8. Grease foil-covered cookie sheets.
  9. Bake at 275 for 10 minutes.
  10. Mix powdered sugar with small amount of water until spreading consistency is reached.
  11. Frost cookies with glaze.
